If you’re organising a getaway to Menorca, you’ve probably asked yourself: how many days do I need to get to know it properly?
Although in three or four days you can tick off some of the basics, the truth is that Menorca is best enjoyed at a leisurely pace.
The ideal: a full week. Here’s why, and how to make the most of those days.
Why is a week the ideal length of stay in Menorca?
If you have a week on Menorca, trust me, you’ll notice the difference.
In seven days you can traverse the island from top to bottom, discover villages steeped in history, swim in coves of every hue and marvel at the contrasting landscapes of the north and the south.
If you only go for a weekend, yes, you’ll see beautiful spots and come home with great photos, but you’ll feel you’ve missed the best part—the authentic side that only reveals itself when you’re not in a hurry.
Distances in Menorca aren’t huge, but truly getting around between beaches, villages and walking routes takes time. The beauty of a week is that you can plan without stress.
One day you relax on the beach, the next you join a boat trip, then you stretch your legs on a country path or let curiosity lead you through a local market or a charming village.
And of course, there’s nothing like ending the afternoon on a terrace, watching the sun set over the sea, not glancing at the clock and simply savouring the moment.
The best thing about having those extra days is that every day counts without any of them feeling overwhelming.
You’ll have time to improvise, to discover hidden corners that don’t appear on maps and to live Menorca at your own pace, as if you were a local.
That’s when the trip really pays off.
How to organise your week in Menorca
Day 1: Welcome to the island

There’s nothing like landing in Menorca, dropping off your bags and immediately soaking up the atmosphere.
If your flight arrives early, we recommend a stroll around Mahón’s port and historic centre.
Wander without haste, sit on a terrace and enjoy a drink in the sun—let the island’s rhythm sweep you away.
If you prefer the sea to the city, head to a nearby cove, take that first swim you’ve been dreaming of since you booked your ticket, and finish the day watching the sun sink into the horizon.
And while you’re at it, treat yourself to some local cheese or cured meats, or even a caldereta if you’re feeling adventurous.
Day 2: Southern coves and pretty villages

Today you’ll need to get up a little earlier if you want to enjoy the southern coves without the crowds.
Cala Macarella, Macarelleta, Mitjana and Galdana are incredible, with waters so vivid they look unreal.
In summer, arriving early is key for easy parking and near-private beaches.
When the sun gets high, head instead to Binibeca or Es Mercadal—villages straight out of a postcard, with whitewashed houses and narrow streets.
To top the day off, find a seaside restaurant and indulge yourself. There’s no better way to end the day.
Day 3: Ciutadella and its surroundings

Ciutadella captivates.
Wander through its old town and visit the market. Stop by the cathedral, which impresses both inside and out, then relax on a terrace—Menorcan style.
If you’re into architecture, get ready to photograph every corner: squares, palaces, ancient façades…
When the sun is at its peak, spend the afternoon at a nearby cove such as Cala Morell or Son Saura.
For a truly special sunset, don’t hesitate to visit the Pont d’en Gil. Watching the sun dip behind that natural arch is unforgettable.
If you still have time before returning, treat yourself in one of the traditional patisseries in town centre. Menorcan sweets are utterly addictive and the perfect finale to an unforgettable day in Ciutadella.
Day 4: The north and Fornells
The north of Menorca is in a league of its own: wilder, less crowded and home to landscapes that seem from another planet.
Cala Pregonda, Cavallería and Binimel·là are perfect for snorkelling or for seeing something truly different.
In the afternoon, wander around Fornells, the fishing village renowned for its excellent food and relaxed atmosphere.
Here, we recommend you try the famous lobster caldereta.
Day 5: Seeing Menorca from the sea

Today it’s time to change perspective.
Book a boat excursion and enjoy the calm sea.
Many tours depart from Ciutadella or Fornells and include stops for swimming and relaxation.
In the afternoon, visit one of the island’s lighthouses, such as Favàritx or Punta Nati. The sunset from here is one of those moments you never forget.
For something different, head to Cova d’en Xoroi: having a drink in a cliff-side cave is an experience you must live at least once.
Day 6: Nature and disconnection

Menorca is more than just beaches.
Devote a day to its natural side: the Natural Park of s’Albufera des Grau is ideal for hiking, bird-watching and full disconnection.
If you enjoy walking, tackle a section of the Camí de Cavalls, the trail that circles the island and reveals unique landscapes.
In the afternoon, visit Alaior. It’s the perfect time to pick up an authentic souvenir and support the island’s artisans.
Day 7: A relaxed farewell
The last day is always bittersweet, but it’s also the perfect excuse to return to Mahón for some final shopping, a leisurely stroll or a visit to the Fortress of La Mola.
If your flight isn’t until late, take one last dip or enjoy a good meal before saying goodbye.
Menorca gets under your skin, so you’ll be planning your next trip before you even leave.
What if you have more days?
If you’re lucky enough to stay longer, explore the lesser-visited coves on the north coast, such as Cala Morell, or visit prehistoric sites like the Naveta des Tudons or Torre d’en Galmés.
You could also tackle another stage of the Camí de Cavalls.
