There is nothing in the world quite like spending holidays in Menorca. Its incredible coves with turquoise waters, the sun, nature, and a magnificent Mediterranean climate allow you to enjoy the island all year round.

That is why throughout the year, but especially during the summer months, numerous craft markets and gastronomic products are held throughout the island. Visiting these markets is an excellent opportunity to get to know the island’s culture through crafts and gastronomy with its typical products.

During the summer nights, you can also visit one of these markets, a unique experience to know the typical Menorcan Avarcas, leather goods, the flower of salt of Fornells, Mahon cheese, or sobrasada in the moonlight and to the rhythm of summer music.

1. Street Markets

  • Alaior flea market: every Thursday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Av. del Pare Huguet.
  • Ciudadela street market: Mondays and Fridays at Plaça des Born. In winter, from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM and in summer from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
  • Es Castell flea market: Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM in Plaça de s’Esplanada. 
  • Es Mercadal street market: Sundays from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM in Plaça del Pare Camps. 
  • Sant Lluis street market: Mondays from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM in Pla de sa Creu.
  • Maó street market: Tuesdays and Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM in Plaça de s’Esplanada.
  • Ferreries street market: Fridays from 9:00 AM to 1:00 AM in Plaça Espanya.

2. Craft and food and agriculture markets

Mao:

  • Mercat del Peix: from Tuesday to Saturday all year round from 07:30 AM to 2:00 PM in Plaza España. Fresh fish market.
  • Artisan market of Maó: from June 15 to August 31, every Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM in Plaza España. Craft market made by residents of Menorca.
  • Agromaó: on Sundays from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM throughout the year in Plaça Reial, Carrer Nou i S’Arravaleta. you could find sustainable food products typical of Menorca.  
  • Christmas Fair: during the first weekend of December from 11:00 AM to 21:00 PM in the Plaza de la Conquesta.
  • Es Mercadal winter food and craft market: Tuesdays from February 1 to May 31 from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PMin Nou Street.
  • Ciutadella agricultural market: Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM all year round at Plaça de la Llibertat. You will find local products from Menorca’s farms.
  • Craft and food market Ferreries: all year round, Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM in Plaça Espanya.

3. Night Markets

  • Alaior artisan night market: during the summer months, from the first Wednesday of June until the second Wednesday of September. It is held in the old town from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM.

Alaior is one of the most charming villages in the interior of Menorca. Its cobbled streets of the old town make it a magical place to enjoy these markets during the summer nights.

  • Es Castell night market: every Monday in July and August from 8:00 PM to 12:00 AM in Carrer de Sant Josep.

Es Castell is the easternmost town in Spain and the one with the most British essence of the island. Located in the Port of Maó, it was founded around the Castell de Sant Felip. It is a vibrant town that preserves the original transversal layout of its streets that reflects its British roots and military past. 

  • Es Mercadal food and agricultural night market: Thursdays from June to September from 17:00 to 00:00h. in Plaça Pare Camps, Carrer Nou, Plaça Constitució and Carrer Major.

Es Mercadal is an inland village located right at the foot of Monte Toro, the island’s highest point. It is one of the most beautiful and typical villages with its white houses where you can taste traditional Menorcan food in its many restaurants.

  • Craft Market at night in Ferreries: on Fridays from 7:00 PM to 1:00 AM from July 1 to August 31 in the center’s streets.

Ferreries is a beautiful whitewashed village surrounded by some of the most spectacular landscapes of the islands. It is well known for its shoe and furniture industry.

Ciutadella:

  • Mercat de Costa: from June 1 to September 30 in the Costa Marina of the Port of Ciutadella from Monday to Sunday from 7.00 PM to 1:00 AM.
  • Capllonch Market: every day from June 1 to September 30 from 7:00 AM to 12:00 AM Fridays and Saturdays until 01:00 at the Stairs of the Port of Ciutadella.
  • Craft market in the Cathedral Square: from August 1 to September 30, every Monday from 7:00 PM to 12:00 AM.

Ciutadella exudes history in each of its streets and its port. The cobblestones of its narrow streets dedicated to the ancient patrons of the medieval guilds are the perfect setting to enjoy the open-air markets.
